At DT Swiss we believe that the difference is in the detail. SINC ceramic ball bearings are precisely based on such details.
These ball bearings were developed by DT Swiss in order to reduce the rolling resistance to an absolute minimum. The balls are made from silicon nitride (Si3N4), an extremely tough and wear- and corrosion-resistant ceramic material. Combined with steel alloy bearing rings, the hardened ceramic bearing balls will ensure a smoother function over time and a faster run-in than conventional steel bearings.
As with all DT Swiss hub bearings, the optimum distance between the ceramic balls and the bearing ring (clearance) are within a few thousandths of a millimeter. This clearance is specifically made to suit DT Swiss hub bearing seats to deliver their full potential when tightened for minimum rolling resistance.
High-quality seals
The high-quality SINC ceramic bearing sealing system ensures reliable functioning and minimum friction in all conditions. A sealing ring is used only on the outside and a protective ring is used only on the inside. The seal seat is precision-ground for perfect seal concentricity, which ensures minimum rolling resistance.
